本文档介绍如何将 Gnome Desktop 环境安装到 Oracle Linux 6.x 系统上。

步骤

1. 在 Oracle Linux 6.x 上，Gnome yum group 被称为“Desktop”，在 Oracle Linux 5.x 上是“Gnome Desktop Environment”。
   因此，要在 Oracle Linux 6.x 上安装 Gnome 桌面环境，请使用以下命令：

# yum groupinstall "Desktop" "Desktop Platform" "General Purpose Desktop"

如果需要重新安装软件包，请使用以下命令：

# yum reinstall "@Desktop" "@Desktop Platform" "@General Purpose Desktop"

2. 如果X session不能用startx启动，通过命令生成一个配置文件/root/xorg.conf.new：

# Xorg -configure

3. 检查X Window是否可以正常工作（这只是简单地调出X Window，只有“灰度背景和简单的鼠标指针”）：

# Xorg -config /root/xorg.conf.new -retro

4. 并将其复制到 /etc/X11/ ：

# cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf
